Support COBA’s SPRING FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
After a landmark season of African History Month Student Matinees and evening performances in February and March, COBA is springing into fundraising mode again this month.
It’s a time to spread the word about our school and company and give our community the opportunity to show their love and support for the Collective’s work and mission.
Proceeds from our fundraising efforts over the next few months will help provide the necessary funds to produce SHEreHE 2007, our school recital in June and a number of exciting upcoming company projects in Trinidad.
Here’s how you can help:
Dance-and-drum-a-thon Saturday April 28 9:00 am – 5:00 pm @ COBA Studios
Be sure to keep this date clear in your calendar because you don’t want to miss COBA’s 2nd annual dance-and-drum-a-thon -- a day-long fun-filled multi-ethnic inter-generational event in celebration of International Dance Day.
Each year on the last Saturday of April, we replace our regular schedule of children’s classes with this 8-hour marathon of rhythm and movement to raise money in support of COBA’s programs.
All COBA supporters – students, parents, company performers – and dance lovers of all ages and levels are invited to participate.
Come prepared to journey around the world as each hour we explore a different rhythm or dance style with the help of our volunteer teachers. (Last year’s list included: hip hop, Brazilian, Iranian, Dancehall and of course, West African and Caribbean folk dance.)
Pledge forms are now available at the studio or via email. Get yours now and start asking your friends and family to help you raise money for COBA by sponsoring your participation in the dance-and-drum-a-thon.
Or, join in the fun on the dance floor on the day of the event for an hour or as many as you can hack ($7 suggested donation per hour). Drop-in for 4 hours or more for a suggested donation of $25. Spectators are also welcome on the day of the event ($7 / per person suggested donation to enter).
Chocolate sales Those irresistible World’s Finest chocolate-covered almonds are back! We also have nut-free caramel, crisp and milk chocolate bars. Now available from the COBA office.
Buy a box or two to enjoy after class or at home. Or you can grab a case or more to sell to your colleagues, family and friends -- they are an easy-sell especially around Easter when everyone is craving chocolate.
Each chocolate box or bar sold = $1 raised for COBA. Each case of 25 boxes or bars of chocolate brings in over $20 for COBA.
Donations Online donations and personal cheques in support of our spring fundraising campaign are also graciously welcome. Click on the “Donate Now” button at the top of this page to make a secure donation. Or drop off or mail in a cheque to our office. Charitable tax receipts will be issued for all donations of $50 or more.
COBA is deeply grateful to our generous supporters who donated to make our 14th annual season a successful reality, and we hope we can count on your solidarity again at this time.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate contact the COBA office at (416) 658-3111 or by email.
Thanks in advance for your on-going support.
